Tahiti Nui TV clarifies strike claim over pornography

14:33 pm on 27 March 2008

The head of Tahiti Nui TV says there has only been a strike notice over the screening of pornography but no employee followed up with industrial action.

Yves Haupert also says the reason for the strike call was an unrelated employment dispute.

The union had said there was a strike to demand punishment instead of a warning for the technician who aired the film.

The TV boss confirmed that an incident occurred but says the sequence was not seven minutes long as claimed by the union.

The pornographic film was broadcast after a live interview with the head of the Protestant Church and just before the midday news.
