Forestry worker airlifted to hospital

17:26 pm on 28 January 2015

A forestry worker has been airlifted to hospital after being caught between two trees in the Rai Valley this afternoon.

The man, in his 50s, was working on a forestry block with a team when the incident happened.

Due to the terrain and access issues an Intensive Care Paramedic was winched onto the scene.

The two men were then winched aboard the helicopter and the injured man was flown to Nelson Hospital.

He was in a stable condition.
