Police find $4k of stolen goods and perfume in car search

Thousands of dollars worth of goods including a large amount of perfume has been recovered in Palmerston North.

Police stopped a vehicle about 12.40pm on Sunday after it was allegedly seen driving erratically on Ngata Street.

Officers searched the vehicle after a bong was seen inside and said they found $4500 worth of items including perfume stacked in baskets in the back seat, along with a shotgun shell.

A 23-year-old gang associate and a 15-year-old gang prospect were arrested at the scene.

They were due appear in Palmerston North District Court and Palmerston North Youth Court in the next few days.

Staff from a store in the central city told police items had been stolen minutes before the vehicle was stopped, Manawatū Area Commander Inspector Ross Grantham said.
