The man found dead in a West Auckland park was an Armourguard security patroller, the company has confirmed.

His body was found in Royal Reserve park in Massey early on Monday morning.

Armourguard general manager Shane O'Halloran said the victim was 25-year-old Ramandeep Singh, who was working for them through a contractor.

O'Halloran said the company was offering Singh's family and friends its full support during this time.

A 26-year-old has been arrested and charged with Singh's murder.

On Tuesday, Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor said scene guards remain in place on Beauchamp Drive and the area remained closed to the public.

A post-mortem was also underway.

Police were not ruling out any further charges in relation to Singh's death, Proctor said.

"Our investigation teams have worked hard to reach this point.

"While an arrest has been made, there are still a number of inquiries yet to be completed."

Proctor said police wanted to hear from anyone who was at the park or in the wider area in and around Reverie Place on Sunday night between 11.30pm and just after midnight.

The reference number is 231218/2235.
