A four-hectare scrub fire northwest of Auckland is being mopped up after crews have been at the scene since yesterday morning.
The blaze at Makarau on West Coast Road forced the evacuation of six homes for a short time yesterday and a crew stayed over night.
This morning diggers were overturning earth to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
At the height of the fire yesterday there were 10 fire trucks and two helicopters.
There are now just two crews finishing up at the scene.
