Fire crews have had to free a student after she slipped and impaled her leg during a school photo.
Emergency services were called to Kelston Girls' College in west Auckland shortly after 1.30 this afternoon.
Its principal Linda Fox said the girl, aged about 14, slipped from a raised plank during sports team photos and a bolt on the frame went into her leg.
Fire Service communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said a specialist fire crew used rescue equipment to free the girl and she was taken to hospital.
