A Samoan writer is advocating Pacific people return to growing their own organic gardens and stop eating processed foods.

Sia Figiel once weighed in at over 181 kilograms and had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and complications which led to the removal of her teeth.

When family loved ones died from diabetes related illnesses, she decided to act and completed her first triathlon back in 2014.

She lost the weight and transformed herself emotionally and physically and now advocates for others to make a change.
