The England batsman Ravi Bopara has hit 50 on debut for Auckland on day one of their Plunket Shield four day cricket match with Central Districts in Napier.
Auckland will resume on 319 for six with Andrew de Boorder on 80 and Darryl Tuffey 20.
Canterbury will start day two at the Basin Reserve on 29 for one after dismissing Wellington for 214.
And Northern Districts are well placed in Dunedin after dismissing Otago for 88 with Brent Arnel taking six for 18.
Northern will resume on 195 for six.
