13:52 pm on 17 December 2015

Fiji police say a businessman, Rajneel Singh, is being monitored by police after threats on his life.

They told FBC News that there are allegations that an unknown persons had thrown fire bombs at his home.

Three weeks ago, Mr Singh said he was beaten by police, burnt with a piece of metal and abandoned in a pine plantation.

He was subsequently in Lautoka in hospital and guarded by the Fiji military.

Mr Singh allegedly found details of plans to destabilise the government on an unattended computer in his cafe, and then called police - who he claims then assaulted him.

Investigations are continuing.
