Westport told to save water

Residents and businesses in Westport and Carters Beach have been asked to cut back on using water after the failure of part of the supply network.

Buller District Council manager Mike Duff said water was currently being pumped from an alternate water intake, but people in these areas were being asked to restrict the amount they used as much as possible.

He said the restrictions would delay the need for more stringent action and would stay in place until further notice.
