Meanwhile, National's popularity has received a 6.5 percent boost to 43.9 percent, surpassing Labour.

The Labour Party's public support is now at 41.6 percent - a 9.2 drop since the last poll in June.

However, its coalition partners New Zealand First is up to 4 percent and the Greens saw a minor increase, putting them at 6.3 percent.

It's not just the Labour Party that's lost popularity, Jacinda Ardern's public support as most preferred prime minister dropped to 38.4 percent.

It still completely shadows National leader Simon Bridges who is at 6.7 percent, closely followed by National's Judith Collins at 5.2 percent.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent.
