One person is in custody after police were alerted to reports of an assault at Northcross in Browns Bay.
Police were called to a Sartors Avenue property where they said a man became aggressive towards officers and made threats.
The police negotiating team was called in.
The victim left the address and did not have serious injuries, police said.
Diversions were put in place near Sartors Avenue and motorists had been asked to avoid the area.
A Browns Bay resident said she was woken by the sound of police in her neighbourhood.
The resident said she looked out the window and saw officers blocking off the Sartors Avenue and Woodridge Road intersection.
"Subsequently I saw an ambulance go down the road and I saw a few policemen, one of them appeared to be carrying a gun," she said.
"Two of my neighbours had enquired and one was told there was nothing to worry about. The other was a young boy and he was just told to to home."
