Steel grind down Northern Mystics

11:39 am on 5 May 2014

The Southern Steel wore down the Northern Mystics to run away in the last quarter for a comprehensive 73-61 win in their trans-Tasman netball league clash in Auckland, all but ending the Mystics' playoff hopes.

The Steel turned around last week's 13-goal defeat to the New South Wales Swifts and earned a measure of revenge for their loss to the Mystics a month ago.

The win lifts the southerners to sixth place in the 10-team competition, four points outside the top four with four weeks of the regular season left.

The Mystics are level with the Steel, Central Pulse and Adelaide Thunderbirds on eight points, but lie in eighth place by virtue of a worse points differential.
