Inflation higher than reported due to error

Inflation has been revised upwards due to the discovery of an error.

Statistics New Zealand says the consumer price index for the September quarter was actually 0.3 percent, not 0.2 percent as reported last month.

The yearly figure has also been revised upwards, from 0.2 percent to 0.4 percent.

The government agency found a manual processing error had been made which affected prices for vehicle relicensing fees.
