In American Samoa, a new airline that was established specifically to serve the Manu'a islands is to start commercial services in the first week of December.

Manu'a Airlines will use the government owned airline, Segaula.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in July between the American Samoa Government and Inter Island Airways allowing the airline to take over operations of the aircraft .

Under the agreement Inter island will be required to have at least one flight per day to Ofu, which hasn't had commercial air service for many years.

Inter island stopped flying to Ofu Airport more than 5 years ago because it said the runway is too short for its aircraft to land and take off safely.
