Suspension of Fiji from Pacific Forum will be one of several options at Port Moresby summit.

The New Zealand Foreign Minister, Murray McCully, says there is little the Pacific Islands Forum Ministerial Contact Group could do but accept Fiji's refusal to hold elections in March next year.

Mr McCully was part of the Group which met with the interim Government and political leaders this week in Fiji.

The interim regime re-stated its position from six months ago that it would not hold elections until the electoral system was changed.

The Forum leaders had threatened Fiji with possible suspension if the elections were not held by March, but Mr McCully says this will be just one of the options to be considered at a summit in Port Moresby next month.

"I think all of the options will be on the table for the Forum leaders when they get together. The Ministerial Contact Group's job has been to, in this respect anyway, define the fact that there will not be an election and to scope some of the options that are available for leaders."
