Worth's future as MP still uncertain

09:16 am on 9 June 2009

A week after his resignation as a Government minister, Richard Worth's future as a National Party MP remains uncertain.

Dr Worth resigned his portfolios after a woman laid a police complaint of a sexual nature against him.

Prime Minister John Key says even if the police decide not to press charges against the MP, he will not be made a minister again.

Mr Key says he can't say whether the National Party caucus will discuss Dr Worth's future when it meets next Tuesday.

However, he does say that if Dr Worth needs more time to consider his future, it is likely he would grant that.

Dr Worth is midway through a two-week leave of absence.
