A Southland linesman who survived a 19,000-volt shock says the near-death experience has made him think about his future.
Jeffrey Berry was struck while working up a power pylon about two weeks ago and celebrated his 55th birthday on Tuesday.
He suffered suffered two serious burns to his hand and arms and had to spend a week in hospital.
Mr Berry told Checkpoint the shock left him feeling like his arms had been blown off.
He plans to return to work in a couple of weeks, but admits to having some reservations about his return.
The Department of Labour is investigating.
