A day after the deadline, Syria's declared equipment for producing, mixing and filling chemical weapons has been destroyed. The BBC reports the international watchdog, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, says the weapons have been placed under seal. Inspectors were sent to Syria following allegations, denied by the government, that its forces had used chemical weapons in civilian areas. The plan to destory the weapons came after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad agreed to a U.S-Russian plan.
