The two candidates for the French presidency have clashed in a head to head televised debate, ahead of Sunday's final vote.

Emmanuel Macron who is seeking re-election has had a tumultuous five years as President. Marine Le Pen on the other hand is from the far right political party, National Rally formerly known as National Front and has ties to Russia.

The outcome of the election could have major ramifications for the EU.
