A Kiribati MP, Martin Moreti from Aranuka Island has been appointed the new minister for labour, human resources development.
Mr Moreti replaces Boutu Bateriki, who resigned last week after appearing in court for beating his former wife.
Mr Moreti was sworn in by the Chief Justice John Muria.
