Police are investigating the death of toddler who was taken to Starship Hospital in critical condition.

The two-year-old girl was transported to hospital from South Auckland overnight.
Detective Inspector Warrick Adkin says her injuries were not thought to have been accidental and the death is being treated as suspicious.
He said the occupants of the Weymouth property were self-isolating and police there had been wearing full protective gear.
