Police are delaying issuing information on the death of an eight-month-old baby girl in Upper Hutt on Christmas Day. She was in the care of Child, Youth & Family at the time.
The Coroner directed the police to make inquiries about the death, which is usual practice when a child dies in CYF care.
A post-mortem was held on Boxing Day.
Police previously said more details would be issued on 5 January, but Detective Sergeant Chris Gooch now says further information will not be released until later this week.
He says the death is not being treated as suspicious.
