Lostprophet changes plea

07:33 am on 27 November 2013

The former singer of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets has pleaded guilty to a string of sexual offenses this morning, including the attempted rape of a baby.

Ian Watkins, 36, made a last-minute change of plea at the Cardiff Crown Court, pleading guilty to 11 charges he had once "furiously" denied, the New Zealand Herald reports.

The charges included sexually touching a one-year-old and encouraging a fan to abuse her own child during a webcam chat. Watkins also admitted possessing and making child porn, and plotting to rape a baby.

He pleaded guilty to 11 charges today, nine of which were unchanged and two of attempted baby rape, as opposed to rape.

Watkins will be sentenced on December 18.

The band Lostprophets, which played at the Big Day Out in 2004 and had a minor hit in New Zealand with the 2006 song ‘Rooftops’, disbanded after his arrest.
