A search is underway near Auckland's Manukau Bar for an overdue fishing boat.
A police helicopter and a coastguard aircraft and vessels are involved in the search for the 6.5m boat.
Meanwhile, two swimmers who were in difficulties at Piha, on Auckland's west coast, have been assisted to shore.
A woman was given CPR before a rescue helicopter took her to hospital, while an ambulance took the second swimmer, who had minor injuries.
In Raglan, meanwhile, the police said searchers were stood down after a surfer who had been reported to be in difficulty came forward to say it was a false alarm.
