07:57 am on 16 October 2008

Triathlon New Zealand's High Performance Director Stephen Farrell is resigning after four years and will leave asd soon as a suitable replacement is found.

Farrell says while it has been an exciting and challenging time, the tasks of managing a large team of stakeholders and the time away from family have been extensive.

He says it seems an appropriate time to leave and allow a new person with fresh ideas to lead the team for the next four years through to the London Olympics.

Chief executive Dave Beeche says Farrell brought incredible commitment and energy to the job and oversaw a hugely successful period , capped by Bevan Docherty's bronze medal in Beijing.
