A petition calling on the government to improve post birth rehabilitation care for women has reached over 15,000 signatures. It's saying that New Zealand is falling behind other countries in the healthcare it offers to women post birth and that wahine lack rehabilitative education and pelvic health checks. Many women take years to address the problems thinking that they are normal experiences post-birth. The petition is calling for a number of changes to the system, including free pelvic health checks for New Zealand women and more funding for Continence NZ. Kirsty Watt started the petition, she's a personal trainer who runs classes for pre and post natal health and our producer Ellie Jay asked if she's surprised by the number of people signing it.
