An American Samoa bar, the Toa Bar and Grill, has been cited by the U.S. Department of Labor for not paying employees in accordance with federal law.
The department says in a statement the restaurant has agreed to pay nearly 51 thousand US dollars in back wages to 58 employees.
This followed an investigation covering a two-year period in which the federal agency found the bar failed to pay employees overtime rates.
It was also paying a base wage rate below the set minimum for the American Samoa retail sector.
