Homes on Auckland's North Shore are no longer under threat from a large bush fire burning in the suburb of Okura.
The blaze broke out at about 2pm this afternoon and has destroyed around five hectares of scrub and trees.
There were fears for nearby homes earlier, but Fire and Emergency said it had managed to protect the structures.
However, one shed has been damaged.
Northern shift manager Colin Underdown said six pumps, six tankers, a helicopter and several crews are working to bring the flames under control.
