Sales strong for Christchurch jazz and blues festival

22:48 pm on 1 April 2013

The organisers of the New Zealand Jazz and Blues Festival being held in Christchurch say ticket sales are strong despite facing a second year with limited venue space.

Earthquake damage to much of the central city forced organisers last year to move the majority of shows to the temporary 600-seat Geodome in Hagley Park.

This year the situation is the same but festival spokesperson Marianne Hargreaves says that hasn't stopped people buying tickets.

Three of the festival's 13 shows have sold out and several more are expected to do so by the time it begins on Wednesday.

American blues singer Bonnie Raitt is the headline act.
