A man who was fishing in Bay of Plenty has died after being pulled from the water by members of the public.

Police said they were called to Paengaroa about 1.30pm.
They said a man was pulled from the waters at the Kaituna River mouth.
Members of the public performed CPR, but the man could not be revived.
Police are investigating the cause of death.
