Police have launched a homicide investigation after one person died in South Auckland in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called to Beatty Street, Ōtāhuhu at about 2.15am.
One person who was critically injured died at the scene and police say a firearm was involved in the death.
Police are speaking to witnesses and conducting a scene examination today.
Beatty Street remains cordoned off and residents in the area can expect to see a continued police presence.
