The Auckland City Mission will work with Fire and Emergency to investigate a fire at the mission's James Liston Hostel in Freemans Bay on Sunday.
The small fire was quickly extinguished with sprinklers and help from firefighters.
The fire happened just over a month after a blaze at Loafers Lodge in Wellington killed five people and injured twenty others.
