A roading subcontractor who pleaded guilty in a Serious Fraud Office (SFO) investigation into corruption in the awarding of road maintenance contracts can now be named as Brian Ravening.

Ravening, alongside two other subcontractors who pleaded guilty - Frederick Pou and Richard Motilal - submitted both real and false invoices to former Broadspectrum contract manager Jason Koroheke, amounting to more than $1 million in cash goods and services.

Ravening pleaded guilty in February to one charge of obtaining by deception of approximately $631,000, and two charges of corruptly giving gifts to an agent amounting to about $615,000.

His name suppression has now been lifted.

Ravening was earlier sentenced to 12 months' home detention and paid a reparation of $300,000.

Koroheke, who accepted gifts in exchange for awarding work across several schemes, pleaded guilty in July to 17 charges for offending between January 2015 and November 2018.

He was due to be sentenced in November.

Former Broadspectrum maintenance manager Aurelian Mihai Hossu, also known as Michael Hossu, also pleaded guilty to four charges of acceptance of gifts by an agent. He was sentenced to 11 months' home detention in June 2022, and had paid reparations of $90,000.
