In a judgment issued today, the country's highest court has granted leave for Mr Craig's appeal and Mr Williams' cross-appeal.

The appeals stem from a Court of Appeal ruling earlier this year.

That ruling reinstated a High Court jury's 2016 verdict that Mr Craig defamed Mr Williams at a news conference and in a leaflet distributed to 1.6 million households around the country in July 2015.

But the Court of Appeal said the original amount awarded in damages - almost $1.3m dollars - was excessive.

It ordered a retrial on the amount the jury awarded in damages to Mr Williams.

But Mr Craig appealed that to the Supreme Court and Mr Williams filed his own cross-appeal.

No date has yet been set for the Supreme Court hearing.
