The latest United Nations report on climate change says the warming of the planet is undeniable and will continue to increase unless dramatic changes are made.
The full, final report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change confirms it is extremely likely that human activity is causing global warming with unprecedented levels of harmful greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
The report says the climate will continue to warm unless countries shift quickly to clean energy and cut emissions.
It says despite policies and international efforts aimed at mitigating climate change, emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide grew 2.2 percent per year on average between 2000 and 2010.
The Greens say the report shows New Zealand must play its part in reducing emissions yet, the party says the Government continues to deny that the problem even exists.
