UNICEF is sending emergency supplies to cyclone victims in Tuvalu where nine of its 11 atolls are under a state of emergency.
Assessments show 42 percent of households in the northern islands of Tuvalu were seriously affected by flooding from tidal surges caused by Cyclone Pam.
Today, UNICEF will fly in supplies that include a basic health kit, 1,000 packs of water purification tablets, and vitamin A capsules.
The health supplies will be distributed by Ministry of Health, while the water, sanitation and hygiene supplies will be managed by the Tuvalu Red Cross.
