US President Barack Obama has met the Dalai Lama at the White House.
The meeting has been denounced by the Chinese, who say it will undermine relations between the two countries.
However, Mr Obama met the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader in the White House map room instead of the Oval Office, a distinction that signalled the unofficial nature of the meeting.
