A final bike ride is being planned for the motorcyclist Lesley Brooks who was killed in a triple fatal crash near Taihape on Saturday.

The crash happened on State Highway One near Utiku, where three motorcyclists from different clubs were killed.

The riders had been taking part in an event organised by the Manawatū Road Pirates, and club member Rob Miller told RNZ that they'd gone to Taihape for breakfast but were hit by a car on their way home.

Lesley Brooks, a 46 year old mother of three, was part of the Manawatū Road Pirates club. The group shared details about her funeral on Facebook, which is being held in Palmerson North this Friday at Beauchamp Funeral Chapel.

The club asked for all riders planning to attend, to meet at the NPD petrol station on Rangitikei St at 1.15pm.

"This is a time to respectfully give Lesley the send-off she would have wanted... Please ride respectfully; no rev bombs, burnouts or dangerous riding of any sort," the club said.

Riders from other clubs across the country have taken to social media to share their condolences and a fundraising page has been set up to support the family, which describes her as a 'bright light'.

"On December 7th, we lost someone truly irreplaceable. Lesley Brooks tragically lost her life, leaving behind her loving husband, Mike, and their three beautiful daughters. This devastating loss has left a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.

"The Road Pirates are coming together to raise funds to ease the heavy burden on Mike and his daughters during this unimaginably difficult time," the page said.
