A security guard has been stabbed after stopping a suspected shoplifter in Auckland this afternoon.
The police were called to a New World supermarket on May Road in Mount Roskill at 3:40pm, after the guard was attacked.
The incident happened after the guard tried to stop a suspected shoplifter leaving the store.
A 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening and charged with intent to injure, police said.
The security guard was treated at the scene.
