Two people charged with murder in relation to the death of a man have appeared in the Christchurch District Court.

Kane Alan Wayman, 46, was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition on New Year's Day and he died a short time later.
A 24-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have been remanded in custody and will appear before the Christchurch High Court on 4 February.
Detective Senior Sergeant Joel Syme said the death was a tragic event.
The investigation is continuing to determine if anyone else was involved.
