Former Black Cap appointed Auckland cricket coach

11:53 am on 30 April 2013

The former New Zealand test batsman Matt Horne has been appointed coach of the Auckland cricket side.

Horne temporarily filled the role in the latter part of the season when former Zimbabwe international Paul Strang stepped down after four years in charge of the side.

Horne has previously coached the Auckland A side, the Auckland under-19 team and the New Zealand under-19 national team.

He says having time in the role at the end of the season confirmed for him that he wanted the role, so is pleased to have now been appointed.

He'll officially take up the position on June 1st.
