CNMI humanitarian parole extended

10:35 am on 18 December 2016

About 1,000 foreign workers under humanitarian parole in the Northern Marianas will be granted a two-year extension of their legal status to stay in the territory.

Only those who have already been granted humanitarian parole may apply to have their status renewed.

This comes after the United States immigration services department extended its humanitarian parole programme to the immediate relatives of US citizens to December 2018.

Those qualified to apply for an extension are legal spouses, unmarried children under 21 years old, or a parent, regardless of their child's age.
