MetService has withdrawn thunderstorm warnings that were expected for most parts of the North Island.
MetService issued the severe thunderstorm watch for Waikato to Wairarapa, including Hawke's Bay and Taranaki areas, early on Friday, but later lifted it.
It was still warning of bursts of rain expected for the northern and western parts of both islands on Sunday.
