Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples says he's totally devastated that none of the radio spectrum blocks are being given to tangata whenua.
The Crown has already found customers for large portions of the 700 megahertz band, which will be used for a new generation of mobile phone technology.
On Tuesday, the Government announced the remaining sections were also being auctioned off, despite the Maori Spectrum Coalition appealing for an allocation.
Pita Sharples says he's done what he can to try to secure part of the spectrum for Maori.
He says the technology is a taonga - just like water and the foreshore.
But Dr Sharples says that view is not shared by the current National government nor the previous Labour-lead administration.
