The lawyer of a teen who has been charged with murder over a death in Epsom on Wednesday night has indicated his client intends to plead not guilty.
The police say the 19-year-old and the person who died were known to one another.
The teen has appeared at the Auckland District Court via an audio visual link.
No plea was entered today, but his lawyer said they will be entering a not guilty plea at the High Court.
The accused has been remanded in custody until his next appearance next month.
Earlier today police said a guard would remain in place at the address where the person died while they carried out inquiries.
