Wellington Airport is advising customers to check directly with their airlines for updates as low fog cancels 35 flights coming in and out of the capital.
Air New Zealand says 29 of its flights have been grounded including 12 arrivals and 17 departures.
Meanwhile, Sounds Air said six of its flights have been cancelled including three departing and three arriving.
Wellington airport said several flights were diverted to other airports due to the fog.
