07:47 am on 27 February 2014

The New Zealand golfer Michael Hendry is playing down his familiarity with the Hills golf course in Queenstown which along with Millbrook hosts today's New Zealand Open.

The 34-year-old North Harbour pro, who won the New Zealand PGA Championship the past two years at The Hills, is the local favourite for the event.

The Japan Tour pro, says while he's not expecting to win the tournament and claim the prize money of NZ$900,000, he'd like to put his name amoung the greats who have won the New Zealand Open title.

Hendry will play alongside American Rocco Mediate, Rebel Sport CEO Rod Duke and former Black Cap Mark Richardson in the first two rounds.
