NZ scientists to try for aerial volcano view

New Zealand scientists studying Tonga's billowing offshore volcano are hoping to get an aerial view of the volcano tomorrow.

They managed to get near the Hunga Ha'apai volcano yesterday by boat with Tongan officials.

It is still erupting but no longer causing disruption to airlines.

Brad Scott, from Geological and Nuclear Sciences, said the scientists were planning to go up in a plane tomorrow to look at the eruption from the air and monitor any developments.
