The boy was walking to St Matthew's Primary School on King Street in Hastings with his older sister this morning when a man grabbed him by the hand and started walking him down the road.

The boy cried out to his sister and the man let go and left the area.

The sister told a teacher and the police were called.

Detective Rob Parker said they were looking for a man seen around the area at the time.

Mr Parker said it was a timely reminder to parents to talk to their children about stranger danger, as it was important children know to report such incidents.
